A Seudat Mitzvah at a Siyum
Question
Shalom and blessings, and moadim l’simcha. What is considered a completion of study that permits holding a seudat mitzvah? What quantity of learning must one complete: one mishnah, a chapter of Mishnayot, a tractate of Mishnayot, a page of Gemara, a daf of Gemara, a chapter of Gemara, a tractate of Gemara, a section in the Shulchan Aruch, or a siman in the Shulchan Aruch? There are people who complete Masechet Tzitzit at every meal, which takes about five minutes or less. Does such a siyum make the meal a seudat mitzvah? Yasher koach.
Answer
Shalom and blessings
Of the items you mentioned, only the completion of a tractate of Gemara is considered a seudat mitzvah.
A tractate of Mishnah or a baraita without Gemara is not a seudat mitzvah.
