Is there an issue with getting piercings on the body (not in the ears)?

There is no inherent issue, and in the Tanakh and Mishnah, it appears that this was accepted among the people of Israel.
However, since it is not commonly accepted today, if it is in a visible place, it draws a lot of attention and contradicts modesty.
