The Location of the “Peyot”
Question
What is the minimal area on the face where one must leave peyot?
Answer
Shalom u’verachah
The location of the peyot of the head is from the bottom of the protruding cheekbone in front of the ear, up to the corner of the hairline on the forehead, at the place where it begins to descend toward the cheeks.
On the side behind the ear, one must leave hair from the highest point above the ear.
One should draw an “imaginary line” from the part above the ear diagonally upward to the corner of the hair on the side of the forehead.
In the entire area defined as the peyah of the head, one must leave hair there at a length of at least 0.4 cm.
