Do infants need to be careful about mixing meat and dairy?

It is forbidden to feed a child something that is prohibited. Therefore, it is forbidden to give him meat with dairy.
However, there is no need to wait after his finishing the consumption of meat, and dairy can be given to him immediately after the meat.
