Studying while wearing shorts

Greetings! Is there a problem if a child in first grade studies the Torah (Chumash) while wearing shorts?

This is a subject that is discussed among the decisors of Jewish law, whether areas that are usually exposed in children and covered in adults, are considered as covered areas. The Mishnah Berurah was lenient in this matter, while the Chazon Ish was stringent.
