Animal Suffering: The Case of a Mosquito

Question

Is there a difference in causing suffering to a mosquito or a dog?

Answer

There is a prohibition against causing suffering to any creature, including a mosquito or vermin such as cockroaches. However, there is no prohibition against killing an animal if a person will benefit by doing so, or if the animal is causing harm to a person.
