Time of Unveiling the Tombstone

Question

My mother passed away abroad and was only buried in Israel three days after her passing. When should the tombstone unveiling be done? Should we count from the day of her burial or of her passing?

Answer

Greetings!
Those who follow the custom of the Ari perform the tombstone unveiling at the end of the shiva, on the day that the finish sitting, which is counted from the day of the burial. However, those who follow the more common custom do it on the thirtieth day from the day of passing. The number thirty includes the day of the passing and the day of the tombstone unveiling.
