Trousers Left from Kindergarten

Question

My son came back from kindergarten with trousers that are not his. This happened at the end of the year and I was unable to return the trousers in time. Since then, a year has passed and I have no way of finding the owner. What should I do?

Answer

Greetings,
The obligation to make an effort to return a lost item is only to the extent that by your estimation the owners would bother about the matter.
In any case, you can write down the value of the trousers, as well as their identifying features, in a ledger, and if the owner is found, you should return their monetary value to him.
