Changing a Will

Question

My father wrote a will in which he bequeaths his assets in an unusual way. For instance, I receive disproportionately more than the rest of my siblings. However, we wish to distribute the inheritance equally among us, and all the siblings, including those who were to receive more, agree to this. Is this permissible, or is it a commandment to fulfill the deceased's wishes?

Answer

There is no prohibition against this. On the contrary, this act promotes peace within the family. Truth and peace are beloved, and it is commendable that you understand that family is worth more than money.

Source

Shulchan Aruch (Choshen Mishpat, section 252, paragraph 2).
