Forbidden Mixtures in Spices

Question

We have spice plants in our courtyard, is there an issue of kilayim (forbidden proximity of plants) with them?

Answer

Woody plants do not have an issue of kilayim. Herbaceous plants that are not edible do not have an issue of mixtures, but edible plants have an issue of mixtures, and even spices, although they are not consumed on their own, are considered in this matter as edible plants and are subject to the prohibition of mixtures.

Source

It is explained in the Talmud (Bava Bathra 156b) that there is an issue of mixtures with turmeric, even though it is only consumed as a spice within a dish.
