Fulfilling obligation by reciting prayer for a sick person

Question

If I read prayer aloud for a sick person, do I fulfill my obligation to pray as well?

Answer

Greetings,
If you intend to pray, you fulfill your obligation. However, in that case, you need to stand and focus on the meaning of the words, feeling that you are standing before the Creator of the world. Turn towards Jerusalem and observe the other laws of prayer. If you have the opportunity to pray with a minyan, or if you find it difficult to concentrate in this manner (while reading to a sick person), you should intend not to fulfill your obligation when you read the prayer aloud for a sick person.
