Doughs combining in oven

Question

We prepared two doughs, each one isn’t large enough to require the separation of the challah. Then we put them in the oven together to bake. Do they join so as to require the separation of the challah?

Answer

Dear …!
The oven does not join the dough together. If you want to become obligated to separate the challah, you can put them in a large utensil after baking or wrap them together in a towel or a bedsheet or something similar.

Shulchan Oruch, section Yore Deah, chapter 325
The oven does not join two pieces of dough together because it’s large and heavy, and therefore it’s considered as being attached to the ground. Besides that, the dough is only placed in the oven in order to be baked. Oven is not used as a utensil.
