A pregnant woman who craves for food

Question

Dear Rabbi! I have a question. My wife is pregnant. She works in a place where religious and non-religious Jews work together. They often hand out food with a low level of kashruth supervision. Sometimes it’s very difficult for my wife to refrain from taking this food. She begged me to permit her to eat this. How does one know when a craving for food becomes dangerous for the embryo, which would mean that she must eat? (For the most part, they give out cookies and cakes.) Thank you very much

Answer

Dear …!

Today there is no danger in this, so you don’t have to be concerned about it. She can only eat these foods if she’s feeling extremely weak.
