Buying flowers after the end of the sabbatical year

Question

Is one allowed to buy flower without a kashruth certificate after the sabbatical year? I have trouble finding flowers with a certificate. It’s clear to me that flowers that are being sold now were grown during the shmittah year.

Answer

If you know for sure that the flowers were grown in a forbidden way, then you are not allowed to buy them. However, most flowers are grown either in aboveground containers or in greenhouses. Therefore, in most cases, there is a doubt as to how they were grown. Now that the sabbatical year is over, you can be lenient and buy these flowers.
