Candle lighting for guests who will return home after meal

Question

My wife is in her ninth month of pregnancy. For the first Shabbos meal, we’re invited to a place that’s walking distance from our house. The question is, can my wife drive there before Shabbos, light the Shabbos candles there, and then, after the meal, walk back home and go to sleep at home?

Answer

Yes, this is the preferred way of doing it; she should drive to the host’s house before Shabbos and light the candles in the place where you’ll be eating.
