Torah reading for someone who eats on a fast

Question

I have the following question: my mother passed away less than a year ago, and I’m mourning her according to our custom. I’m very careful always to buy the maftir (reading of the Torah and of the Haftara) every Sabbath. Can I buy maftir during the minchah prayer on a fast day as well? (It’s important to note that can’t fast today because of a medical condition.) Thank you

Answer

Someone who is not fasting cannot be called for a Torah reading on a fast.

Have a good year
