Renovations in the month of Nissan

Question

Is there a reason to renovate specifically in the month of Nissan?

Answer

Yes.

Source

The Beis Yosef writes (section Orach Chaim, ch. 442): “for those whose custom is to scrape walls and chairs which came in contact with leavened bread, I found a basis in the Jerusalem Talmud (Psochim, ch. 2, sec. 2). And the same is written in the Rosh (ch. 2); the Mordechai writes this in to commentary to Elu Ovrin (Psochim, ch. 3) in the name of Raavan (7, 73).” And responsa Torah Lishma (ch. 509) brings this as an accepted custom.
