Underage child building a sukkah

Question

Is one allowed to let an underage child (a boy under the age of 13, or a girl under the age of 12) put schach on a sukkah?

Answer

It is preferable that an underage child not cover the sukkah with schach. And if a child did cover a sukkah with schach, an adult should lift up the schach and put it down again. If this wasn’t done, the sukkah is still considered kosher. As for the walls of the sukkah, there is no problem if a child builds them.
