Tachanun - Selichot - Kapparot

Question

1)Do you say tachanin by shacharis on a day that you say slichos (becauseit was said already by the slichos)? 2)should a pregnant lady perform kapporos with money twice?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

Tachanun is recited at Shacharit even though it was said at Selichot. On Erev Rosh Hashana, however, Tachanun is only recited at Selichot. It is not recited at Shacharit in accordance with the rule that Tachanun is not recited at Shacharit on Erev Yom Tov.

Regarding Kapparot with chickens: If a woman is less than forty days pregnant, she should take one hen. After forty days, she should also take one rooster in case her child is male. If her family custom is to take one bird for each family member, she should take two hens (for herself and in case she is expecting a girl) and one rooster (in case she is expecting a boy). If she knows the child’s gender, she should act accordingly.

When doing Kapparot with money, if one's custom is to do kapparot for each family member then she should use double money, and recite the accompanying passages in the plural.
