Calculating Shloshim

Question

My wife passed away at 4am on 8/8/2024 & was buried on 10/8/2024. When does Shloshim end>

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

We are sorry to hear of your loss.

The counting of the shloshim period starts from date of burial, not the date of death. In other words, shloshim ends on the 30th day after burial.

If your wife was buried on August 10 / 6 Av then the shloshim will be end on Monday September 9th / 6 Elul.

NOTE: Since August 10th was a Shabbat, I am assuming your wife was buried after Shabbat, which is Sunday, 7 Av on the Jewish calendar.

May we hear only good news!
