Din Torah: Father vs. Husband

Question

Shavua Tov. My father is old (93) and not acting 100% properly. He gave my husband a Sefer Torah 40 years ago, we have used it in our shul. My father wants "his"Torah back, my husband tried to explain it was a Matana. My father is now initiating a Din Torah against my husband. I do not want to disrespect my father, but my Shalom Bayis(my father always stressed the importance) is in jeopardy. My husband now is telling me to now refrain from all contact with my father. My husband says as long as there is an active Din Torah against him, he wants all contact abolished.

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry to hear about the challenges you are going through.

Our advice to you at this time is to  listen to your husband. As long as the Din Torah is proceeding, you should not have contact with your father.
