Ate on Tisha B'av

Question

I was hungry on Tisha baav and ate. No medical reason or illness. I just ate. I feel very guilty now, what can I do? Can I make it up?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

First of all, it is nice to see that it bothers you that you ate for no good reason on Tisha B’av. It shows that even though you did not conduct yourself properly, you still love and fear Hashem who gave us the Torha and mitzvot. And it is clear you want to do the right thing and will try harder next time. That is Teshuva!

I recommend that as part of your Teshuva, you take upon yourself to learn that laws of Tisha B’av as good as you can.
