Medical Procedure on Tisha B"Av

Question

Can I have a medical procedure on Tisha B"Av?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

Tisha B’av is a day we fast and focus on mourning for the loss of the Beit Hamikdash.

As such, medical procedures should be avoided on Tisha B’av.

In the event that something urgent must be done, and it is not easy to postpone, then it can be done.

Extra caution should be taken with such a decision if the medical procedure might force one to have to eat.
