G-d

Question

Hi, I recently got the responsability to be the provider of my mother and my sister because my father is no longer able to provide due to sickness, I am a little nervous, how can I be more confident as a 26 year old that I can provide for my mom,my sisters and my own family in the future

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry to hear of your father’s illness.

Yes, you have a major responsibility on your shoulders, but you must know and remind yourself that G-d is going to help your though this to succeed.

You must think about, and explore the Jewish concepts of, “Emunah” and “Bitachon”

Emunah is the understanding that G-d runs the world and can make anything happen. It is the reassuring belief that G-d is with you 24/7/365. It is the confidence that nothing in more powerful than G-d and only He is in charge. Emunah is knowing the G-d runs the world.

Bitachon means “trust.” It is the requirement to trust that G-d will help you with all your needs and see you through all your challenges. You must always remind yourself that G-d wants what is best for you.

In other words, Emunah is the belief and understanding while Bitachon is trusting that your belief will materialize with God taking care of all your needs.

There are many, many books that you can purchase online and have delivered to you on the topic of Emuna and Bitachon. Some of the books you might want to consider reading, all available in English, is “Kuzari” and Chovos Halevavos.” Rabbi Avigdor Miller and Rabbi Asher Weiss also have English books on this topic.

May God help you in your mission to provide for your family. With Emuna, Bitachon, and prayer you are sure to succeed.
