Why Don't Jews Believe in Jesus?
Question
Why not believe jesus as a tru prophet?
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
You are correct that the Jewish people do not accept Jesus as a prophet or messiah.
I will share with you some of the primary points as to why this is so.
1. Jesus did not fulfill the messianic prophecies that the messiah is required to fulfill in order to be declared the messiah. For example, there is not yet peace or universal recognition of G-d. (See: Isaiah 2:1-4, 32:15-18, 60:15-18; Zephaniah 3:9; Hosea 2:20-22; Amos 9:13-15; Micah 4:1-4; Zechariah 8:23, 14:9; Jeremiah 31:33-34). A messianic candidate who fails to fulfill even one of the requirements cannot be the Messiah.
2. There is no concept in scripture of a “Second Coming” for someone who did not fulfill the messianic requirements
3. There is no reference to the man Jesus in Jewish scripture
4. The case for a “virgin birth” is based in mistranslations. It is based on an intentional mistranslation of Isaiah 7:14. The word "alma" means “young woman,” not "virgin." Furthermore, the messiah must be a descendant of King David and King Solomon form his father’s side.
5. The idea of women becoming pregnant through immaculate conception was an idea stolen from the pagans who believed that the gods can have relations with humans. There is no source for such a thing in Judaism.
6. Jesus could not have been a prophet because the era of prophecy ended hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus. The last prophets were Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi.
There are many more reasons to be discussed but this is not the right forum to discuss them all.
