Does One Need to Stand When Sitting with the Torah?

Question

After Hagbaat HaTorah, when the person holding the Torah is sitting, should he stand for the Prayer for the State of Israel or the Prayer for the IDF?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question!

One who is sitting with a sefer Torah is not required to stand when prayers are recited for which the congregation customarily stands.
