Prayer: A Private Matter

G-d

Question

How come when you pray the person that you pray about ignores you? It like God does not even tell you that the person is praying for you?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

Many people choose to keep their prayers private for various reasons. Some may feel that prayer is a deeply personal and intimate act, meant to be shared only between themselves and God. Others may believe that the effectiveness of prayer lies in its sincerity and not in public display. Additionally, some individuals may prefer not to draw attention to themselves or their actions, opting instead to quietly offer prayers for others without seeking acknowledgment or recognition.

Ultimately, the decision to share or keep private one's prayers is a personal choice influenced by individual beliefs, values, and cultural practices. It's essential to respect the privacy and autonomy of individuals in matters of spirituality and prayer.

Our sages tell us that when you pray for someone else, you will be answered first! So don’t worry about any recognition from anyone for praying for others. You’re doing great!
