Living with Schizophrenia

Question

I’m a schizophrenic, dyslexic. I can’t focus at work and every company I try to start up fails. I know it is Shabbat but I need someone to talk too. Life is a struggle for me and i get support from my family but I just want to be successful enough to take care of my stepdaughter and my fiancèe and I can’t get that. I tried to start up a jewelry business, a 3D printing business, a CNC business but it all failed. I’m lost and need guidance.

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for reaching out!

I understand your frustrations.

It is amazing that you don't give and you keep on trying.

Allow me to strongly recommend that you join your local orthodox synagogue.

Being part of a community will be especially helpful for you. You never know who you will meet that will be encouraging and inspiring. Maybe there are people in the synagogue just waiting to hire someone like you in for their business!

It goes without saying that becoming more religious, observing Torah and Mitzvot, makes life far more meaningful and interesting. I’m sure the rabbi will also be of assistance in your search for peace an happiness. When you are part of a community there will always be people there to help one another and to help guide you. Shabbat becomes more exciting when spent with friends!

Although I am no doctor, allow me to also recommend that you stay physically active. Be sure to exercise. Also be sure to eat well, healthy, and to take all the necessary medications and see your doctors and therapists regularly. You should also consider having uplifting music playing in the background as much as possible.

Wishing you blessing, success, and peace.
