Dating someone with big age difference

Question

Is it okay for a 17-year-old who is a Jew to date/have intimate relations with a 24-year-old who is also a Jew?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

In Halacha, this age gap is not deemed significant in a couple. However, it's crucial to understand that the purpose of dating is to seek a suitable partner for marriage and to establish a home together. Intimacy before marriage is forbidden in Judaism.
Once a couple decides to marry, they study the laws of Taharat Hamishpacha, or "Family Purity," which teaches the Jewish laws of intimacy.
Wishing you lots of success.
