Guidance on Wearing Sacred Necklace

Question

Hi Rabbi..My parents bought me a silver necklace from the Israel pavillion of the 1964 Worlds Fair. I've worn it for 60 years. My son-in-law ( a Rabbi) noticed it recently and said he doesn't think it can be worn in the bathroom. It's a small silver piece with a lion of Judah on it but it also has the letters ש ד י on it as well. I thought it might be ok if it is worn under 2 layers (actually 3, my shirt, undershirt and tzitzis). Would you have an opinion on that? I hate to give up wearing it, but I want to do the right thing. Thank you so much.

Answer

Thank you for your question.

If it is covered with two coverings, then it is ok to go in the bathroom with it.

Wishing you much success.
