Mincha and lighting Shabbat Candles

Question

May a woman daven Mincha after lighting candles Friday afternoon if she has in mind that she will be mekabel Shabbos after Mincha?

Answer

'lechatchila' optimally one should first daven Mincha and then light, ‘beshat hadchak’ (in a difficult situation), It is indeed permissible for a woman to daven Mincha after she has lit the Shabbat candles, provided she harbors the explicit intention not to accept Shabbat until after her prayers. However, it is better to articulate this intention verbally—that is, to declare that Shabbat will be accepted only following the Mincha prayer.
