Tithing nowadays

Question

Do Jews still tithe today?! Give a tithe to the poor and do they tithe money?!

Answer

Yes, contemporary Jewish practice does involve tithing produce. The type of tithe can vary depending on the year, and in some years, it is designated for the benefit of the poor.

Typically, kashrut authorities that oversee the production of fruits and vegetables are responsible for ensuring that tithes are appropriately given. This means that individuals do not need to personally manage the tithe allocation.

Additionally, it is customary for individuals to tithe their earnings by donating a tenth to charitable causes.
