The Koshering of Schach Used for Dwelling

Question

We sleep under our schach (Sukkah roof) all year round. Do we need to shake the entire schach together, and does it need to be raised to a certain height?

Answer

Shalom and joyous holidays!
In such a case, where the schach serves as a roof under which you live, it is necessary to kosher the entire schach and it is not sufficient just to fix a part of it. The koshering is done by raising the schach and then putting it back in its place for the purpose and with an intention of building a Sukkah.
There is no need to raise all of it together, and each branch can be raised individually, and then placed back. However, if all the schach is weaved together like a mat, it needs to be raised all together.
There is no measure for the height to which it has to lifted, any elevation is sufficient.
