Combining Two Doughs for the Separation of Challah

Question

Greetings and blessings, joyful holidays! I made 2 kilograms of dough, each kilogram separately, and let them rise separately. Can I perform the separation of challah? Thank you very much in advance.

Answer

Shalom and joyful holidays!
Currently, you have no obligation to separate challah with a blessing. However, you should separate challah from each of the doughs without a blessing.
In order to be obligated in the separation of challah with a blessing, it is possible to connect and attach the doughs directly to one another. It is also possible to put them in one container that has walls and a lid. One can use a bedsheet or a large towel to put all the dough in it together, and this way they will be considered one large dough, from which one would be obligated to separate the challah.
Also, putting all the doughs into one plastic bag would join them and obligate one to separate the challah.
