Food Touched Without Hand Washing

Question

If we were not particular about my mother washing her hands before touching food, then what should we do? The question is - if we need to ask her to wash her hands, then it burdens her I think.. Maybe once a week when she prepares our salads we can ask, but not every day.. It's really hard to be strict about the matter of ritual hand washing. How serious is the matter of ritual hand washing really? For example, she didn't finish eating challah - put it back, can I not eat from it? And not everything can be washed.. only hard things..

Answer

Shalom and good tidings!
When there is no other choice, it’s permitted to eat the food.
