Yom Kippur Fast - Juvenile Diabetes

Question

1. What is the ruling for a juvenile diabetes patient during the fast? 2. Does a woman in her 38th week plus 2, with a hemoglobin level of 11.4 need to fast?

Answer

Shalom and a good year!
1. The patient can eat and drink as usual.
2. She should fast; if she feels particularly weak, dehydrated, or dizzy - she should drink ‘by measurements’. If contractions begin, she should immediately drink a large amount of liquid.
