Sitting in a Place That Was Sold

Question

In a synagogue where places were sold and the buyer does not arrive for one of the prayers, is it permissible to sit in that place, or can the synagogue managers assign it to whomever they want?

Answer

Shalom!
It is permited to sit there, and it is permitted for the gabaim to seat someone there at their discretion.
The place is not 'sold', but rather given for use.
