Eating Nuts on Rosh Hashanah

Question

I am going to host a 'Shalom Zachor' on Rosh Hashanah night. What kind of nuts am I allowed to serve, and what should I avoid? (Since it says that one should not eat “egoz”, a nut, on Rosh HaShana.)

Answer

Dear …!
You should avoid anything that is called an “egoz” (a nut), such as hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, pine nuts. According to some opinions this also includes almonds and sunflower seeds.
