Haircut on the Eve of Rosh Hashanah

Question

Is there a point in getting a haircut on the eve of Rosh Hashanah itself?

Answer

Dear …!
It states in the Shulchan Aruch: 'We launder and get haircuts on the eve of Rosh Hashanah'. However, it seems that the commandment is to start Rosh Hashanah having had a haircut, not that the haircut should be on the eve of Rosh Hashanah itself. And as it is obvious that as far as laundering goes, there is no point in laundering on the eve of Rosh Hashanah itself.
