Various Laws in a New Office

Question

Hello, Rabbi! I moved to a new office and wanted to ask: 1. Whether I should affix a mezuzah with a blessing or without a blessing. 2. Should I recite the Shehecheyanu blessing? 3. I bought a new device for work for a large sum of money. Should I recite the Shehecheyanu blessing on the device? Thank you very much, Michael

Answer

1. In an office, a mezuzah is affixed without a blessing. However, if there are people who sometimes sleep there, it should be affixed with a blessing.
2. For an office that you own, you should recite the ’Shehecheyanu’ blessing. If you have a partner in it, you should recite the ’Ha-Tov Ve-Ha-Metiv’ blessing. However, for a rented office, the ’Shehecheyanu’ blessing is not recited.
3. If the device belongs to you, you should recite the ’Shehecheyanu blessing’. If it is owned by partners, you should recite the ’Ha-Tov Ve-Ha-Metiv’ blessing. If it is owned by the business, no blessing is recited.
