Death on Friday and Burial on Sunday

Question

If a person's father passed away abroad today, on Friday, and he will only be brought to Israel on Sunday afternoon, and the burial will be in the evening, are the laws of aninut (the period between death and burial) applicable to the son until then?

Answer

Shalom!
One should observe all mourning practices except for removing shoes, as is the law for an onen (a mourner before the burial). If one needs to deal with matters pertaining to the burial, he is exempt from commandments at that time. And if he is not dealing with it until the body arrives in Israel, he is obligated to fulfill the commandments.
The seven days of mourning begin from the time of the burial.
