Cutting an Onion on a Non-Kosher Marble Surface

Question

I cut an onion on a marble surface in a hotel abroad using a parve (neutral) knife. What is the status of the onion and what is the status of the knife?

Answer

Shalom!
Both the onion and the knife are permitted. [Marble countertop does not usually absorb tastes of prohibited foods from a boiling primary vessel (that is, vessel that was heated over a fire or with an electric element)].
