Fasting on Tisha B'Av during Pregnancy with Iron Deficiency

Question

My wife is in her seventh month of pregnancy, generally she is very weak and lacks iron; does she need to fast?

Answer

If she is weak to such an extent that she needs to lie in bed, she is exempt from fasting. Regarding iron deficiency, if the hemoglobin is less than 10, she should not fast. If it is more than that, it depends on the overall weakness, as mentioned above.
