Use of a 'TENS' device on Shabbat

Question

Is it permissible for a woman who is about to give birth to use a 'TENS' device on Shabbat. This is a device that sends electrical pulses to alleviate the pain of contractions?

Answer

Shalom!
If there are severe pains from contractions, it is permitted to turn the device on ’with a change’ (in an irregular manner).
