Preparation of a Vessel for Use with Muktzeh

Question

Would the preparation of a vessel before Shabbos to store Muktzeh (items that it is prohibited to move) on Shabbos (for example, water dripping from an air conditioner) help to avoid the issue of nullifying a vessel's original purpose?

Answer

Shalom!
If a vessel is designated for Muktzeh before Shabbos, placing Muktzeh in it is not considered nullifying the vessel's original purpose, and it is permitted to place Muktzeh in it.

This matter is similar to the cleaning of dirty water with a mop especially designated for this purpose, which is permitted.
This is explained in the Remo, section Orach Chaim, Chapter 302, §10, and Mishnah Berurah, ibid., Subsection 51
