Raising the Curtain on Yom Kippur

Question

How did the High Priest enter the Tabernacle on Yom Kippur with both hands occupied, one holding a ladle and the other a fire pan? At this point, he needs to lift the large and heavy curtain of the Holy of Holies. How did he do this?

Answer

Peace be upon you,
In the First Temple, there was no curtain but a wall with an entrance. In the Second Temple, there were two curtains, one open from the south and the other from the north, so there was no need to lift the curtain.
