Significance of disasters and the correct way of fasting
Question
Shalom! My prayers go out to Israel and all Jewish people for they are God's people and God's land, may our Father God in heaven safely return the captives to their home land, if he so wills it, In Jesus name amen. I'm not sure who else to consult. I have recently gained an urgent interest in learning Hebrew the Torah, and Gematria. What is there to take away from what's going in Israel? Are we really seeing all this prophecy being fulfilled? I feel the need to offer myself for prayer and fasting but I've never fasted before and I really don't want to do it wrong.
Answer
The world is undoubtedly undergoing processes that are perceived as divinely ordained. The exact significance and reasons behind each event may remain elusive until the Messiah comes and provides an explanation for why certain occurrences took place.
In the context of fasting, if a person voluntarily chooses to fast, the fast commences before dawn and continues until sunset. Throughout this period, one is forbidden from eating and drinking. However, it's important to note that abstaining from food and drink is not the sole focus of the fast. Weakening one's body serves as a means to draw closer to God, fostering repentance, and cultivating a desire to distance oneself from sins while actively engaging in virtuous deeds.
