Diaspora

Question

Hi! I have a question about the Jewish diaspora. The most famous diaspora is in connection with the fall of the Second Temple and the Romans. How do the Jews who do not recognize Israel as a state think, do they live permanently in a diaspora or how does it work?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

We generally only answer questions on Jewish ritual law and avoid questions that border on the political or divisions within the Jewish people.

But to answer you briefly: Everyone loves and recognized the Land of Israel. It is the land given to the entire Jewish people. Regardless, whether or not one recognizes the modern State of Israel, everyone agrees that it is a mitzva to live here.

Those who do not recognize the State of Israel are of the opinion that only a state that follows Jewish law is legitimate or that one must wait for the Messiah to re-establish Jewish sovereignty over the Land of Israel.
