Who was malachi?

Who was malachi? Is there any ancient documents of how people recalled him. I'm not Jewish by any means but I do believe the Jewish people know more as Judaism was huge during the old testament. Malachi is the most mysterious person.

Malachi, meaning “my messenger” is one of the Hebrew prophets who lived approximately 420 BCE. There is a view that Malachi was another name for Ezra the Prophet.
Malachi’s main messages were to the Priests to encourage them to remain faithful to their duties, to the people not to lose focus on the Holy Temple, and a warning to men not to unnecessarily divorce, especially for the purpose of marrying non-Jewish women.
