Biography of Enoch

Question

Can you give me a biography of Enoch and some of his virtues and also what was life like then closer to the time of Adam did they wear fur clothes?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

There is not much biographical material on Enoch.

Enoch lived just before the era of Noah and the Flood. His father was Jared and his son was Methuselah, both righteous people int heir own right.

The Torah tells us that Enoch lived 365 years and was then taken by G-d (Gen 5:21–24) which, according to tradition, is that he entered Heaven alive. Interestingly, although he lives until the age of 365, he was one of the youngest pre-Flood leaders to die ad most lived until well over 700 years.

According to the Midrash “Enoch was a righteous man, but he could easily be swayed to return to do evil. Therefore, the Holy One, blessed be He, hastened and took him away and caused him to die before his time.” In order that he die as a righteous person.

We cannot be sure of what type of clothing they wore.
